Barking Tales

Who are those furry creatures that we chose to be our companions since aprox. 30,000 years ago? Dogs have been part of many aspects of our lives for such a long time, and still there are so many without a place to call home. Barking Tales is a personal project that intends to raise awareness of our moral commitment with the species that once we decided to domesticate to be with us.

Animals have always been close to my heart. As a pet owner and volunteer at the animal shelter at the biggest no-kill city in the United States (Austin yay!!) for almost two years, I have accumulated a series of personal stories and experiences that I visually communicate here.

Easter eggs full of dog treats.

Easter is a happy, family day when kids look for eggs filled with chocolate and in many cases, there is always a dog who joins the celebration. But what about the homeless dogs that because of unfortunate twists of life, have to spend these special days in a kennel? They also deserve to have fun and of course, treats! So the Austin Animal Center organized an egg hunt on easter 2016, and let me tell you, it was one of the most enjoyable moments I have had there. The front area was filled with eggs of different sizes that contained all kinds of dog treats. The small dogs came first, many of them dressed for the occasion, and then the big dogs. People from the general public were also allowed to bring their dogs, and suddenly we were a big family celebrating easter.
